What “bundled” means
LibreAAC’s Android release includes a reviewed selection of OBZ board packages. They appear in Your communication boards without being unpacked at every startup.
Selecting one for the first time:
- reads and unpacks its OBZ package;
- validates its boards and resources;
- creates a local copy stored in LibreAAC; and
- opens its home board.
This can take time for a large package. Later openings use the local copy.

These are independently licensed works. Their inclusion does not make them part of LibreAAC’s GPL-licensed application source.
Quick Core 84 and 112, Vocal Flair 84, and CommuniKate 12 and 20 remain available from the public openboards collection. They can be downloaded and loaded manually but are not included in the application package.
Choosing a board
The number in a name generally reflects its intended grid size, but a larger number is not automatically better. Consider:
- the person’s language and motor access;
- symbol familiarity;
- whether the complete grid remains readable;
- navigation depth;
- availability of a keyboard; and
- guidance from the person’s AAC team.
Quick Core 24 is useful for learning the interface because it presents a smaller home board. It should not be treated as a clinical recommendation.

Attribution and media
Board-level licences may not describe every embedded symbol, image or sound. LibreAAC preserves embedded licence information where supplied and exposes board and resource details through the library.
