LibreAAC is a free, ad-free, open-source augmentative and alternative communication application developed by Luke Howson.
Data collection
LibreAAC does not collect any personal information, usage information, device information, diagnostic information, analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or other user data.
The application does not transmit user data to the developer or to any third party.
LibreAAC does not contain advertising, analytics, tracking, crash-reporting, or telemetry services.
Offline operation
LibreAAC operates entirely offline.
Communication boards, settings, images, sounds, and other content used by the application are stored locally on the user’s device. This content is not uploaded to a server or made accessible to the developer.
The application does not require an internet connection for its normal operation.
Files selected or created by users
Users may open, create, edit, save, import, or export Open Board Format files and associated resources.
LibreAAC accesses only files or locations that the user explicitly selects through the Android system file picker, together with files stored in the application’s own local storage.
The developer cannot access these files.
Users are responsible for deciding what information they place in communication boards and with whom they share exported files.
Permissions
LibreAAC does not request Android system permissions.
Access to imported or exported files is provided through Android’s system file-selection interface and is limited to the files or locations selected by the user.
Data sharing and sale
LibreAAC does not share, sell, rent, disclose, or transfer user data because it does not collect user data.
The application does not communicate with advertising networks, analytics providers, data brokers, cloud services, or other external services.
Accounts
LibreAAC does not provide or require user accounts.
No registration, login, email address, or other account information is required.
Contact and beta-testing email
The LibreAAC application does not collect an email address. If a person voluntarily sends email for support or to request access to the closed Google Play test, the developer receives the sender’s address and any information included in that message.
For a testing request, the supplied Google or Google Workspace account address is used to add that person to LibreAAC’s Google Play tester list and to send information needed to join the test. Support and testing email is not used for advertising or added to the application. Google processes tester account information under Google’s own privacy terms.
Testers may ask the developer to remove their address from the tester list and delete the related email correspondence.
Data retention and deletion
The developer does not receive or retain data created or used inside the LibreAAC application. Voluntarily submitted support and tester email may remain in the developer’s mailbox or Google Play tester list until it is no longer needed or the sender asks for its removal.
Files stored in LibreAAC’s private application storage remain on the device until they are deleted by the user, the application’s data is cleared, or the application is uninstalled.
Files exported or saved to a user-selected location remain there until the user deletes them. Uninstalling LibreAAC may not delete files that the user has exported to shared storage or another selected location.
Children’s privacy
LibreAAC does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
The application contains no advertising, behavioural tracking, analytics, social features, or user accounts.
Communication boards may contain information entered by a parent, carer, clinician, teacher, or user. That information remains locally on the device unless a user deliberately exports or shares the file.
Security
Because LibreAAC does not transmit or remotely store user data, no user information is held on servers operated by the developer.
The security of locally stored and exported files depends on the security settings of the user’s Android device and the storage location selected by the user.
Third-party services
LibreAAC does not integrate third-party services that collect user data.
Distribution of the application through Google Play is subject to Google’s own privacy practices. Any information processed independently by Google Play is governed by Google’s policies and is not collected by LibreAAC.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated if LibreAAC’s functionality or data-handling practices change.
Any revised policy will be published at the same location with an updated effective date. LibreAAC will not begin collecting user data without updating this policy and making any disclosures required by applicable law and Google Play policies.
