I cannot get back to the board library

Press the large red X at the top right ten times. When the management row appears, select Library.

The X clears the phrase on every press. This guard is intentionally attached only to the X so the hidden management controls cannot be revealed by ordinary board selections.

A bundled board seems slow to open

The first opening unpacks and validates the OBZ package and creates a local working copy. Larger packages can take some time. Keep LibreAAC open until the communication board appears.

Later openings should use the imported local copy.

A button is not speaking

  1. Check the tablet’s media volume.
  2. Open LibreAAC Settings and select Preview voice.
  3. Try the Device default voice.
  4. Confirm the setting for what happens when a button is selected is not Build quietly.
  5. If the button uses a recorded sound, try another ordinary button to distinguish a missing sound resource from a speech problem.

Voice availability is controlled by the speech engine installed on the device.

LibreAAC reports board links that cannot be resolved offline. Review the board set in Boards and check the destination assigned to that button.

An external URL inside a board is not automatically an offline board. LibreAAC does not have Android internet permission.

I changed a board but cannot find a saved file

Edits are protected automatically in LibreAAC’s local working library. They do not overwrite the file originally opened.

To create a portable file:

  1. reveal the management row;
  2. unlock editing;
  3. select Save; and
  4. choose a user-controlled destination through Android’s file picker.

I deleted a local copy

Deleting a local copy does not delete an independently exported OBF or OBZ file. Load that backup from the library.

If no file was exported, LibreAAC has no cloud service or developer-held copy from which to restore it.

Will uninstalling remove boards?

Uninstalling removes LibreAAC’s protected local application data. Files explicitly exported to shared storage or another chosen location normally remain there.

Always save and verify a portable backup first.

Compatibility warnings

LibreAAC may warn about Open Board Format content it cannot use. It keeps unknown properties and other files in the package where possible so a later complete save can retain them.

Review notices before relying on an imported board and test exported files.

Privacy questions

LibreAAC has no accounts, advertising, analytics, telemetry, or application server. Read the complete privacy policy.

Join the Google Play test

LibreAAC needs at least 12 testers to remain opted into its closed Google Play test continuously for at least 14 days before it can apply for public release. Select Send me an invite and send the Google or Google Workspace email address used by your Play account.

Ask for help or report a problem

For a software defect, include:

  • the LibreAAC version;
  • Android version and tablet model;
  • what you expected and what happened;
  • whether the issue occurs on more than one board; and
  • a screenshot that contains no private communication content.

Do not publish a personal communication board unless the communicator and relevant guardian have agreed.
